How this Multitasking Super-Mom went beyond Motherhood to fuel her Dreams

If you haven’t figured it out yet, Mompreneurs are mothers who choose to start up a business while bringing up children. And often these moms are those who gave up corporate jobs — to first turn mother and then marry maternity with entrepreneurship.

About Avni

“This is a real life story of a woman, a mother of two small beautiful children who stood up against all odds and became a successful entrepreneur.” She’s a Engineer, stay home mom, an artist, avid traveller, adventurer, and an entrepreneur. She speaks her mind out and doesn’t cave into fear. She cherishes Freedom & Independence. She loves to be Creative & Painting is her passion. She is also an adrenaline junkie who loves travelling, yoga & staying close to nature.

She believes “Life is meant for Spectacular adventures, Let your feet wander, your eyes marvel, and your soul ignite.”

She was looking for a Career which would fulfil her passions & give her location-wise & pay-wise freedom.

Imagine being a sleep-deprived mum with 2 kids, who instead of taking every available moment to sleep, just cannot get the idea out of her head and it’s keeping her awake all the time. She knew she would always regret it if she didn’t do something about it. She says “I try to imagine my own capacity for motherhood: how could I possibly add another thing to my already-hectic life? I don’t have time to shower most days,…But then moms everywhere are making it happen, simultaneously nurturing small businesses and small humans — both 24/7 jobs. And they’re killing it. (There’s hope for me still.)”

Quirky! Home Decor, the Unique & beautiful brand that Avni brought to life almost four years ago. The venture was a manifestation of her hardwork & her passion for traveling, art & culture across the world. Quirky! Home Decor sourced unique, artistic, quirky, creative and fun solutions to everyday housewares from all around the world. Quirky! Home Decor was born to fill the gap between cool, trendy, and unique designs from all around the world for budget-minded shoppers. Her Store generated millions of dollars in sales.

On discovering the niche and taking the plunge: She wanted to establish a Unique Lucrative brand. Find out what would make her business unique, and Develop a brand around it. She wanted a loyal customer base and do something, better than anyone else, and watch the business grow.

Avni is no stranger to roller-coaster riders; she went through various ups and downs in life before achieving the success she enjoys today. Avni recalls back in 2018 when she quit her cushy corporate job during the pregnancy of her 2nd child and took a Career Break from her IT job. She started looking out for options to work from home in the hopes of having a career that gave her location-wise and pay-wise freedom. 2020 when COVID-19 took us Off guard, when most of the Businesses shutting down, many people loosing their jobs and lot of the Businesses going digital. She dreamt of starting her own online business which could generate a passive source of income in the long run. But didn’t know where to start? One of the biggest challenges she faced was getting started. She knows from her experiences how overwhelming, hard and scary it would be to start something new, especially in those strange times.⁣ She wanted to build & grow a profitable Branded E-Commerce business from scratch with the right marketing skills. She then tried looking out for options, did a lot of research, trial and errors & enrolled for Batch 4 of Digital Deepak Internship program which proved out to be a Life changing Game for her.

She was able to learn those Premium Digital Marketing skills from Mr Deepak Kanakaraju and offer them to clients. After the internship she started Freelancing into Digital Marketing alongside building her Business.

Early Life

Avni hails from Bellary, Karnataka, India. She pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering and moved to Bangalore in 2011 after her Graduation & has worked with companies like MindTree, GlobalEdge, Harman International. She is also a successful financial Advisor at Kotak Mahindra.

Health

She says, We are often so worried about everyone else, that we often forget to take care of ourselves. She always had her health on top Priority. She is also a certified Yoga trainer and spends most of her time close to nature & organises Yoga & Meditation camps during her travel. She manages all this because of her strong support system and her dedication to fitness. Great support is essential, you can’t do it all alone so don’t be afraid to ask for help!”

At last she says: “Never feel guilty because you are doing the best job to the best of your abilities, both at home and at work. Convert the guilt into your strength by your actions, rather than thinking and fretting that you are unable to take as much time out. Make a special effort to spend quality time with your children. Look from their eyes, they see a super mom who they will in time respect for all her juggles and the misses too. You are instilling confidence in them teaching, them to be responsible and independent.”
